There’s a kind of feeling stuck that can be really hard to explain.

Nothing is necessarily wrong. You’re getting on with life, doing what needs to be done, looking after everyone, working, keeping the house running and dealing with the never-ending list of things that seem to need your attention.

From the outside, your life might look absolutely fine.

But you know something doesn’t feel quite right.

Maybe you’ve lost some of your confidence. Maybe you’re overwhelmed by everything you’re carrying. Maybe you’ve reached a point where you know you want something to change, but if someone asked you exactly what you wanted instead, you wouldn’t know what to tell them.

You just know you don’t want to keep feeling like this.

And that can be a really difficult place to start from.

Feeling stuck doesn’t mean your whole life is wrong

When one part of life feels difficult for long enough, it can start to make everything feel harder.

You might find yourself thinking, I need to sort myself out.

Or, I don’t even know what I want anymore.

Maybe it’s, I’ve completely lost my confidence.

Or simply, Something needs to change.

The temptation is to look at your whole life and think you need to fix everything.

Your routines. Your confidence. Your relationships. Your work. Your boundaries. Your health. Your motivation.

Suddenly you’ve created another enormous list for yourself when you were already feeling overwhelmed in the first place.

Sometimes the first step isn’t changing anything at all.

It’s working out what’s actually going on.

Why so many women feel lost in their 40s and 50s

By the time you reach your 40s or 50s, you’ve probably spent years building a life and taking care of what needs to be done.

There might have been careers, children, relationships, family responsibilities, changes you expected and plenty you didn’t.

And somewhere amongst all of that, it’s surprisingly easy to lose sight of yourself.

What do you want now?

What matters to you?

What doesn’t fit anymore?

What would you actually like the next part of your life to feel like?

Those aren’t always easy questions to answer.

You don’t necessarily want to throw everything away and start again. You might not even know what you want to change yet.

You just know that the way things feel right now isn’t quite right.

That’s where clarity becomes important.

“I feel stuck” can mean very different things

One of the things I’ve noticed through coaching women is that feeling stuck doesn’t look the same for everyone.

Two women can both say, “I feel completely stuck,” but what’s underneath that feeling can be completely different.

For one woman, it might be clarity and direction. She knows she wants something different but has no idea what she wants her next chapter to look like.

For someone else, it might be confidence and self-doubt. She has ideas and knows there are things she’d love to do, but she keeps questioning herself or worrying about getting it wrong.

Another woman might be dealing with overwhelm and burnout. There’s so much going on that she doesn’t have the headspace to think about what she wants, never mind make changes.

And sometimes it’s fear of change. You know you’re ready for something different, but actually taking that first step feels much harder than thinking about it.

All four can feel like being stuck.

But they don’t necessarily need the same next step.

That’s why I created the Harmony Clarity Quiz

I created my free Clarity Quiz for women who know something doesn’t feel right but aren’t quite sure where to start.

It’s 12 simple questions designed to help you identify what might be keeping you stuck right now.

Your result will point you towards one of four areas:

Clarity & Direction
You’re ready for something different, but you’re struggling to work out what you actually want.

Confidence & Self-Doubt
You may have an idea of what you want, but second-guessing yourself or worrying about getting it wrong keeps getting in the way.

Overwhelm & Burnout
There’s simply too much going on. When your head is full of responsibilities and everyone else’s needs, it’s difficult to hear your own.

Fear of Change
Part of you is ready to move forward, but another part is much more comfortable staying with what feels familiar.

Your result isn’t a label, and it isn’t telling you what you should do with your life.

It’s a starting point.

Because when you can see what’s actually getting in the way, deciding what to do next can feel much more manageable.
